I’m practising the art of invisibility. It has a wonderful cleansing effect on your thoughts.
The best way to do this, is to be surrounded by a lot of people. For instance, just walk down the street during rush hour. Try to keep moving, let your unconscious tell you where to go. Your feet will have a mind of their own. You will be the lone explorer, registring in minute detail every contour and every shape. People will move too. You are alone, apart from them, yet you are of them.
The crowd is you...And it isn’t you. You shift your position with ease. You are everywhere and nowhere. You hear almost nothing, yet you hear everything.
The sun is shining, or it’s raining, or the windy street will send a shivering chill through your spine.
The wind is you. The rain is you. Feel the raindrops as they caress your face. Smell the dogshit as the sunrays hits their moshy texture. Close your eyes and listen to your heartbeat.
And you start to realise, moving through the crowd, smelling their smells and hearing their voices: They see you, but yet you are invisible. You are the air that you breathe, the sunlight through the leaves, the ground under your feet, the endless sky. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. And you open your eyes, and feel relieved. That's how you know the universe have shown you its heartbeat, too.
