[ the garden of forking paths ]

I’m having weird nightmare dreams in which an entire village of faux-medieval peasants are running and screaming and swearing and chasing after me, waving their pots and pans, probably with the intent of turning me into caramel stock for their yearly mayday celebrations. But when i awake, all is well.

-Stoically, I prepare my breakfast meal: traditional japanese rice (with raw eggyolks chucked into the mix), put the kettle on, make myself some tea, read the papers, listen to Uzbekistan pop while getting dressed and ready, brush my hair, clean my teeth, drink my tea while staring out the window as the morning-dark slowly vanishes and gives room to just another nordic winter day, the building-site men nearby rummages about down there at the other side of the road, joyfully clanking their tools and buzzing their blowpipes, the big bangs of cement rubble falling down into the dust and going to pieces, the grace of the big electric crane as it swerves and slowly lift the gigantic pieces of concrete and steel onto skeletons of future buildings, beautiful stripped-down structures as silhouettes against the sky, the first shy strains of morning sun hitting the blank glass-surfaces of car windows and making small dots of sun, gleaming, reflecting, lighting up the grey, lighting up life.

-I get my bag, my keys, closes the door behind me and gets ready for another day in the anthill-parade.

-Hahhahaha...!!:D
-Sorry man, but at least the pictures were aesthetically pleasing, eh? :P

(-Funny that, someone wrote a long article on Vancouver or some canadian city in yesterday's copy of our local news rag, and the only thing they were capable of mentioning, in the entire piece, except for describing sportswear shops and how the hotelroom interior looked, was the constant rain and a drunk taxi driver! -Don't you just love lazy journalism, i wonder where they recruit all those guys sometimes...!!-It was just as if they hadn't ventured outside the hotel room, ever!-Kind of scary, really...!)

-At least the crunchy goodies found elsewhere are even more bizarre: in some latin-american (or was it african?) countries you can order roasted ants and beetles to eat insted of popcorn, at local cinemas! yum yum...bueno apetito!!;)

weird thing about being Canadian...Vancouver feels like another country...never been there...the Missus lived there for a year and said it was the most depressing place on earth...weather=always rainy/overcast...architecture: a mixture of Los Angeles and 1930s Winnipeg (old and grimy)

the weed is legendary, although as i understand it the weed we smoke here in Toronto al comes from out there...the weed here in Toronto is lethal...seriously...not recommended you smoke it every day...you will get "smoked out" very quickly...trust me, i know :)

Yeah, that was about *exactly* what they wrote:..."always raining, city looks european but ain't, a kind of weird aura of "old and spooky" about it...(-Maybe someone should shoot their next film there, would undoubtedly be the perfect place for some forlorn ennui-drama about existential angst-filled walks in the rain or something...)
-Sounds good, but you gotta remember people do sometimes get truly "smoked out" up here too, unfortunately...:-(
