Art Deco is another winner from this guy...amazing
-Ah, yes, he made some amazing shit, didn't he...Prefer the 70's stuff, though...
Haven't heard that particular record i'm afraid, had to stop expensive foreign imports some time ago, my economy got a bit..."Crumbled"...!

-Reminds me to dig out a bit of Neneh Cherry's stuff too (she's his daughter, i liked some of her 90's stuff, have you heard Raw Like Sushi/Buffalo Stance, etc.? god i think i have that cd lying around in my boxes somewhere...!:)
Art Deco was, i believe, his final record...and yeah it's different from his 70s stuff, a little less wild...when i saw him covering something like Bemsha Swing I expected the worse...and the record is fairly minimal, too, with him being backed only by a bass on most cuts...but it grows on ya like nobodies business

Neneh?...yeah, i remember Buffalo Stance like it was yesterday...and what a babe too!!...how she didnt become as big as Madonna is beyond me
-I love it when he was playing the pocket trumpet, or whatever it's called...Also, when he started introducing eastern sounds/timres to his music, he came across as more successful than most...Some just put it "on top" of the music without really merging it into their sound, he went all the way and got something new...Or at least in my ears. -So respect to him!
-Neneh? -Well, she didn't have anything near as strong songmaterial as Madonna had, nor the persona that could front the songs...Not implying she was "bad", of course, but as much as i hate Madonna i do acknowledge her sort of "iconic" persona back in the 80's, how she managed to become mythic in a way, no doubt thanks to good PR and all the business-machinery around her that could propel her inot a larger-than-life product, a trademark, a commodity. -Less commercial artists seldom have that, that "X-factor" that can propel them into technicolor "stardom"...(of course some of them have, but the media attention/popularity often then seems to hinder them making groundbreaking music, it is an obstacle hindering them rather than an asset)
-Oh, i could go on talking about this but i'd rather have to make myself some breakfast porridge now...Became a late night yesterday!
